DipHE Counselling | Member NCPS

Hello,

I’m an integrative psychotherapist and counsellor working with children,

young people and adults. My approach draws on different ways of working,

shaped around the person in front of me and what they need from therapy.

My experience and interests include children and young people’s wellbeing,

neurodiversity, burnout, chronic illness and persistent pain, with a particular

interest in how these experiences can affect everyday life, relationships and

our sense of who we are.

I’m naturally a creative person, and that often finds its way into my therapy.

Alongside talking therapy, I offer creative approaches and walk-and-talk

sessions, giving you different ways to explore what’s going on and find what

works for you

I live in Huntingdon with my husband, and numerous animals!.

More about me

My (longer) Story

For more than 25 years, I’ve worked with children, young people and families

across childcare and education. Alongside raising my own family and experiencing

the ups and downs that come with life, I became increasingly interested in what

sits beneath the way we think, feel and behave. Training as a psychotherapist

and counsellor felt like a natural next step, bringing together both my

professional and personal experiences.

Working therapeutically with children and young people feels like a natural

continuation of that work. I’ve always believed that behaviour tells us something,

particularly when it’s difficult to put into words what is happening. Sometimes

having someone outside of home or school who will listen without judgement and

give them the time and space to express themselves can make a real difference.

I also have a particular interest in supporting adults living with chronic illness a

nd persistent pain, an area that has personal meaning for me through my own

lived experience. I understand that ongoing pain or illness can affect far more than physical health — it can impact relationships, independence, confidence, plans for the future and even how you see yourself.

That understanding shapes the way I work. Sometimes simply feeling understood by someone who recognises the wider impact can matter, particularly when so much of what you're dealing with isn't visible to others.

HOW I WORK

I’m an integrative therapist, which means I can draw on different approaches depending on you and what you need. My work has a person-centred foundation and can include CBT-based interventions and attachment-informed approaches.

Creativity is also an important part of how I work. Therapy doesn’t always have to mean sitting opposite someone and talking for 50 minutes. We might use creative activities to explore something that is difficult to put into words, work together on practical strategies, or simply talk.

Some people find conversation comes more naturally when they’re doing something, and sometimes four walls aren’t helpful either. Where appropriate, I also offer walk-and-talk therapy for clients who find it easier to think and talk whilst moving and being outdoors.

However we work together, I want therapy to work for you rather than feel like something you have to learn how to do. You don’t need to arrive knowing exactly what you want support with or have everything worked out. Sometimes you might simply know that something isn’t quite right.

My therapeutic approach

Person-centred foundation with CBT & DBT informed techniques

As a qualified psychotherapist and counsellor, I relish helping my clients to better cope and manage their anxiety or low mood, to understand their emotions and facilitate building confidence in their own identity and decision making - all to find a happier more purposeful life, that feels well lived, or at least a little bit easier day by day.

My experience includes supporting within a school, a hospice and a child abuse charity, exposing me to a wide range of client issues including grief, loss, health impacts, trauma, school and workplace stress, relational conflict, anxiety and depression.

Following personal experience with neurodiversity, and being a science nerd, I sought training in ADHD neuroscience fundamentals, therapeutic support for ADHD. I have trained as a ADHD coach helping clients understand how they can work with their brain, overcoming executive function challenges and focusing on their strengths.
