Hello,
I’m an integrative psychotherapist and counsellor working with children, young people and adults. Therapy is a space where you can simply be yourself — to talk, think things through, understand yourself a little better and work out what might help when life feels difficult or overwhelming.
My experience and interests include children and young people’s wellbeing, neurodiversity, burnout, chronic illness and persistent pain. Having spent more than 25 years working in childcare and education, supporting children, young people and families is an important part of who I am and the work I do.
I’m naturally a creative person, and that often finds its way into my therapy. Alongside talking therapy, I offer creative approaches and walk-and-talk sessions, giving you different ways to explore what’s going on and find what works for you

Lou Burtt

My (longer) Story
My journey began when I did my Psychology degree after school. I was particularly fascinated when I co-authored my dissertation article with a wonderful practicing psychologist on how support networks - including dogs and hairdressers! - could help alleviate depression. Graduating, I felt too young and insufficiently worldly wise to start a job in clinical psychology, and put my psychology to use for many years in the corporate world, as a consumer behaviour strategist in marketing and advertising.
Full circle to my mid-life, I feel I have now gained the lived experiences that I desired to inform my psychotherapy and counselling practice - whether experiencing work stress and burn out, discovering my personality didn’t quite fit the hard nosed, advertising industry - or, as a parent appreciating the struggles teenagers have growing up in today’s world, together with first hand experience of the challenges of juggling parenthood, home and career.

My therapeutic approach
Person-centred foundation with CBT & DBT informed techniques
As a qualified psychotherapist and counsellor, I relish helping my clients to better cope and manage their anxiety or low mood, to understand their emotions and facilitate building confidence in their own identity and decision making - all to find a happier more purposeful life, that feels well lived, or at least a little bit easier day by day.
My experience includes supporting within a school, a hospice and a child abuse charity, exposing me to a wide range of client issues including grief, loss, health impacts, trauma, school and workplace stress, relational conflict, anxiety and depression.
Following personal experience with neurodiversity, and being a science nerd, I sought training in ADHD neuroscience fundamentals, therapeutic support for ADHD. I have trained as a ADHD coach helping clients understand how they can work with their brain, overcoming executive function challenges and focusing on their strengths.

My (longer) Story
After nearly twenty years working in finance I decided to leave my corporate career and retrain as a psychotherapist. Psychology had fascinated me for many years, and I increasingly realised that I was more interested in people than spreadsheets—what shapes us, how our relationships and experiences influence who we become, and why we respond so differently to life’s challenges. Retraining was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

As a therapist, I am warm, curious and down-to-earth, and I feel privileged to support people through difficult periods of their lives, helping them understand themselves more deeply and move towards meaningful change.
My therapeutic approach
Person-centered foundation with CBT & Attachment informed techniques
My therapeutic approach is integrative, meaning I draw upon a range of evidence-based approaches and tailor therapy to the individual or couple rather than expecting people to fit one particular model. I believe our psychological wellbeing is closely connected to our physical health, emotional experiences, relationships and wider environment, and that the mind and body cannot be understood entirely separately. I have particular interests in relationship counselling, attachment, trauma, neuropsychotherapy and emotional regulation. I find interest in how our experiences, relationships, brain and nervous system can influence the way we think, feel and respond. Above all, I aim to provide a warm, collaborative and non-judgemental therapeutic relationship where clients feel genuinely heard and understood, while developing greater self-awareness, emotional resilience and the capacity to create lasting change.

When I'm not at work I am happiest....
Outside the therapy room, I enjoy an active lifestyle and value the balance that comes from spending time in both the countryside and London. Whether walking with my two dachshunds, Patsy and Eddie, skiing, golfing, fishing or spending time with friends, I believe movement, connection and purpose all play an important role in emotional wellbeing.

More about Kim
My (longer) Story
For more than 25 years, I’ve worked with children, young people and families across childcare and education. During this time, while raising my own family and experiencing the ups and downs that come with life, I found myself becoming more and more interested in people, their experiences and what shapes who we are.
Over time, that curiosity led me to train as a psychotherapist and counsellor. It felt like a natural next step, bringing together my professional experience with what I had learned through life itself.
I know that children don’t always have the words to explain what’s going on, and sometimes how they’re feeling comes out in other ways. Having someone outside of home or school to talk to, or simply spend some time with, can give them a different kind of space to work things through.
I also have a particular interest in supporting those living with chronic illness and persistent pain, an area that has personal meaning for me through my own lived experience. I know that ongoing pain or illness can affect far more than physical health — it can change relationships, independence, confidence, plans for the future and even how you see yourself.
That experience gives me an understanding of just how much life can change when your health changes, particularly when much of what you’re dealing with isn’t visible to other people.

My therapeutic approach
Person-centred foundation with CBT & creative-informed techniques
Just as no two people are the same, I don’t believe therapy should look the same for everyone. As an integrative therapist, I draw on different approaches depending on you and what you need. My work has a person-centred foundation, alongside CBT-based interventions and creative approaches, allowing us to find a way of working that feels right for you.
Creativity is an important part of the way I work. Therapy doesn’t always have to mean sitting opposite someone and talking for 50 minutes. Sometimes words are difficult to find — for children and young people, but for adults too. If it feels helpful, we can use creative activities as another way to explore thoughts, feelings and experiences that may be difficult to put into words. There’s never any expectation to work creatively — it’s simply another option available to you.
Sometimes four walls aren't helpful either. Where appropriate, I offer walk-and-talk therapy for those who find it easier to think and talk while moving and being outdoors.
Above all, I want therapy to feel like something that works for you, rather than something you have to learn how to do — a space to understand yourself better and make changes that feel meaningful to you

When I'm not at work I am happiest....
I’m usually happiest being creative — particularly sewing and turning a piece of fabric into something completely my own. I enjoy spending time with my family, being outdoors, gardening and the ordinary things in life that help me switch off and recharge.
